We are seeking a highly experienced structural steel modeller to join our team of highly motivated and friendly staff. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities and skills required of personnel assigned to the position.
• Create detailed schematics that are utilised in the manufacturing of products and the construction of buildings/structures.
• Interperate the input of engineers, architects, and surveyors and can specify dimensions, codes, materials, and production methods.
• Prepare technical drawings for structural steel projects.
• Develop and prepare engineering drawings, plans, diagrams or layouts from sketches
• Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations
• Make revisions to drawings as requested
• Keep up to date on all modern advancements in material and software technologies
• Take control & responsibility for work assigned
• Be able to coordinate work packages and teams
• If working on multiple similar items, get the first one reviewed by a checker or peer
• Only submit models for formal checking after conducting a self-check
• Continued development in the 3D modelling environment, starting with small structures and progressing to larger, more complex structures on various projects.
• Will have an in-depth knowledge of the software and be able to mentor modellers and detailers
• Liaise closely with model coordinator and collaborate effectively with project team members
• Strong understanding of industry standards, project standards & deliverables
• Excellent knowledge of fabrication and construction methods
• Be able to identify anomalies within the design package and suggest feasible solutions to any issues that arise
• Develop an understanding of fabrication and construction methods
• Be able to work autonomously and take full control & responsibility for their model
• Will identify & raise RFI/TQs as early as possible in the process to the model/team coordinator
• Be committed to step in wherever you are required, to help or get something done for the benefit of the business, even if it is outside of your normal duties.
